This is the heart behind the initiative and the vision for creating more room for more people to encounter Jesus.
This initiative is about more than a building. It is about preparing the jars for what God desires to pour out next.
Over the past several years, God has done something incredible in and through our church. Every weekend, more families walk through our doors. More students are encountering Jesus. More people are finding hope, healing, and purpose. And honestly, it’s the kind of problem every church prays for—we are running out of room.
There comes a moment where you realize: if we don’t make room, we won’t be able to receive the people God wants to send.
That is the vision behind Make Room.
This is about so much more than a building. This is about mission. This is about people. This is about preparing the jars for what God desires to pour out next.
In 2 Kings 4, Elisha told the widow to gather empty jars and “not ask for just a few.” As long as there were jars available, the oil kept flowing. The miracle only stopped when there was no more room.
We believe the same principle is true for the church today.
As we move forward in faith to purchase and renovate the former JC Penney building at Holly Hill Mall, we believe we are creating room for more people to experience the hope of Jesus.
This move also makes us regional. Positioned in the heart of Burlington and close to the interstate, this location helps us reach more people between the Triangle and the Triad.
We are not building a monument. We are building future ministry capacity.
The total cost of this project is $5.5 million, including both the purchase of the building and the complete renovation of the space. While this is a significant step of faith, we believe every sacrifice connected to this vision is connected to someone’s story.
More families reached. More kids discipled. More students encountering Jesus. More baptisms. More lives changed. More hope carried into our city and beyond.
This initiative will require faith, generosity, sacrifice, and commitment. But we believe with all our hearts that God wants to do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine.
So let’s prepare the jars. Let’s make room for the lost. Let’s make room for the next generation. Let’s make room for the future.
Because Jesus is still saving, lives are still changing, and as long as there are jars available, God will continue to pour out.
In 2 Kings 4, the oil kept flowing as long as there were empty jars available. The miracle only stopped when there was no more room.
We are making room for the one who isn’t here yet — the next family, the next student, the next baptism, and the next story.

This initiative is not ultimately about space. It is about people. It is about making room for one more family, one more student, one more baptism, one more prodigal, and one more story of life change.

We believe this new space positions Hope Church to make room for more people across our city and region to encounter Jesus.
This is not about a monument. This is about future ministry capacity.
Every baptism has a story. Every family reached has a story. Every life changed by Jesus has a story. Every one matters. As we make room, we believe God will continue to write more stories of hope, freedom, healing, and salvation.

The building is not the mission. The mission is people.
We are simply making room for the people who are not here yet.
